On this edition of Curator's Corner, NRA National Firearms Museum Senior Curator Phil Schreier joins John Popp to discuss an original Colt Walker .44 pistol that reputably "saved the colt brand." Texas Ranger Samuel Hamilton Walker requested 1,000 of these pistols when Colt was nearly bankrupt in the mid 1800's. This purchase and other agreements to furnish the U.S. military with Colt pistols are credited for helping Colt become the brand it is today. Originally aired 11/3/11.
