This edition of Curator's Corner was filmed in the NRA Vault on the 100th anniversary of when the United States military officially adopted the John Browning-designed Colt 1911 .45 automatic as the standard government pistol for all the United States Armed Forces. John Popp joins National Firearms Museum Senior Curator Phil Schreier to talk about this fascinating firearm that continues to serve the U.S. Armed Forces today. Schreier explains that the official gun was almost the Savage design, and he presents the Savage 1907 that was used in the trials with Colt between 1907 and 1911. Originally aired 4/7/2011.
